Circa 20 years ago
This pic was taken sometime around 1988 at Romford skatepark in the U.K. Proper old school 70's concrete park with moguls, halfpipe minus flat, snake run, 4 leaf clover bowl etc. Yes I have some sick Jordans on and that is my brother with the video camera. Notice how high tech it is not like Sumers vx1000 where you actually have to put the tape inside the camera, this thing houses a full size vhs tape in a top loader vcr you wear over your shoulder. Good times.
Shawn Rylander "songs for men"
Album Review
Shawn Rylander "songs for men"
I have to admit that I had my doubts about Shawn's new album. Nothing personal, it's just that usually when a friend gives me a CD, tape, or record to listen to of "their band" it ends up being something I'm not stoked on. So when I put Shawn's album on my record player I was totally expecting it to suck. But to my surprise it's actually quite good. The album kicks off with a reggae inspired track titled: "Men - It's What's For Dinner." I wouldn't be surprised if that song found its way onto the radio charts in the next month or two. The next few tracks on the first side are pretty standard R&B fare. Definitely good, but probably not his best work. The last track on side 1 is a super upbeat dance club style song titled: "Jeans Creamers." If this track doesn't get you dancing then I'm guessing nothing will. Side 2 is a forty five minute electro synth track titled: "Love Dagger." Super psychedelic and experimental. So all in all I'd say that Shawn's album is definitely worth checking out. Turn it on, turn it up, and turn it out!
"spare time " price sheet
It seems my new favorite thing to do after the bars is to hit up my recently burned down house and drunkenly rummage through the burnt remains. It's pretty pathetic, I know. This particular item is a price sheet from the "spare time" art show we did about a year ago. While I was looking it over I realized it could also double as a great reference tool for zine names. Deer Death, Ghosts and Heroes, Cock, Dead T.V....all "fuck yea!" names for zines. So feel free to steal any of these names and put them on the cover of your very own d.i.y. magazine. Or just sit around and smoke another bowl while you wait for the first issue of Karate Foot.

no-comply video coming soon
Right around summertime no-comply should have their video/film ready for our viewing pleasure. Rumor has it that Mr. Gold Shoes himself, Sam Bethke, will have a full part. But here's the catch, he's only skating vert. That's right, and he's been polishing up his skills with none other than Tony Hawk. No word yet on if he plans to get some mega-ramp clips. Good luck Sam. We're all rooting for ya.

Pecan Farm V-Day Session 2009
The Austin Skaters that are over 30 (the Rodge excluded) spent the better part of Valentine's Day drinking cheap beer and skating the leftovers from the Death Star and Banana Farm (RIP).

gold bender
Yesterday I went skating with Sam Bethke and Michael Sieben. Right off the bat Sam came at me with some frighting new skate shoes.( limited edition, solid gold, hundred dollar Supras) He asked me what I thought of his new kicks. Ummmm...How do i answer this question? HONESTLY. "Dude, those are the ugliest pair of kicks i've ever seen." He laughed because he knew he was gonna catch some flack on this purchase. Then Sieb's shows up flossin a brand new crispy Roger deck. It's the old Blender coffee break graphic re-done. Holy shit, much easier on the eyes than Sam's blinding eye sores. I then grabbed my beat up old pair of Nikes and my soggy Creature board and we headed over to alien pod. By the way, alien pod won't be around very much longer. Two weeks or so. Hit it up while you can.

picture book
A picture book
is a popular form of illustrated literature.
More precisely,
a book with comparatively few words.
When first read, the images in a picture book
are not inherently understood,
but over time
and through a comprehension of experiences,
the individual learns
not only to read but to understand
the language of a picture book.

heroin shiek
seems we have a hot spot right behind our house. if you're down with shooting up, eating wendy's, and fuckin, then we have you covered. early this morning my roommate had the pleasure of witnessing one of our homeless neighbors just after his early morning cup of heroin. the crusty 60 year old man was so peaceful as he unbuckled the belt from his arm and slowly rolled his sleeve down. i'd imagine that his day will go quite different than mine. i wish him the best. karate foot backs the addicts.
